MEET THE TEAM
Created in 2009 by three Part-I graduates from De Montfort University and the founder of Hill Holt Wood, Design:HHW has traditionally operated as a rolling internship for year-out architecture graduates. Now under the guidance of Hollie Drake, the team operates as a small practice concentrating on small-scale Design and Build projects, opting for a collaborative and dynamic creative process that provides the most sustainable, economically and socially-beneficial design proposal.
Hollie Drake
Head of Business and Quality
Hollie studied Architecture in the nearby city of Lincoln before moving on to work at the woods. Hollie became the Design Team Lead after spending a year working and living in the woods as a designer. Experienced in the ins and outs of the Team, Hollie is an expert at keeping control of her motley crew.
Hollie currently holds the 'best phone voice' award.
Chris Wilson
Design Ranger
Chris studied Architecture at the University of Liverpool, joining the Design Team in January 2021. Chris's background in carpentry lends itself to his role in the woodland, helping with the design of our eco buildings and timber products.

Nigel Lowthrop
FOUNDER
Hill Holt Wood's founder, Nigel Lowthrop, founded the design team at Hill Holt Wood in 2009 with a group of architecture graduates from De Montfort University. Nigel has used his skill and experience in eco-construction to oversee and provide assistance to the design team. Nigel has recently moved on to other ventures, but his legacy lives on through the work practiced by the design team.
